Size 7 double pointed needles
Size 2 Double pointed needles
Knobby Yarn White
Finger weight yarn red
Finger weight yarn green
Finger weight yarn black
Finger weight yarn orange
Using size 7 needles cast on 3
working in I-Cord Method
Row 1 and 2: Knit in front and back of each stitch (you should have 12 stitches)
Divide the stitches equally onto three needles
Round 5-10: Knit
Round 11: Decrease on each end of each needle (you should have 42 stitches)
Round 12: Knit
Work rounds 11 and 12: Three more times
Round19: Decrease one more time as in round 11
Round 20: Knit 2 together to end
Stuff Flossy's bottom
Round 22: Knit one in the back and front of each stitch to end (You should have 36 stitches)
Round 23: -26: Knit
Round 27 & 28: *Knit 2 together, Knit 1* to end
Round 29: Knit 2 together to end
Round 30: Knit 2 together to end
Break thread and run through remaining stitches with darning needle.
Stuff Flossy's head and tie off.
You can add her eyes and mouth at this time or wait. I did it at this time and didn't like the proportions and had to re-do it once the bonnet was on.
Using size 2 needles and orange yarn
Pick up two stitches in the center of her face.
Using darning needle pull end through the tip of her nose and into her head.
Using the darning needle again tie off and pull the other end through her head.
Using size 2 needles and red
Cast on 18 Stitches
Rows 1-4: Knit
Row 5: Knit 4 Pearl 10 Knit 4
Row 6: Knit
Repeat rows 5 & 6 twelve more times
Row 18: Knit
Cast off leaving one stitch on needle pick up one stitch
Work in I-Cord on these two stitches for five inches
Knit the two stitches together and break off tail, pull through and cut off.
Pick up two stitches on the other side apron and work like above.
Pick up 20 stitches around top of head using 4 size 2 needles.
Round 2: Knit
Round 3: Repeat round 1
Round 4: Knit
Round 5: Purl (this will turn the top of the bonnet)
Round 6: Knit
Round 7 & 8: Knit two together to end
Round 9 -12: Knit
Round 13: Knit two together to end
Put some wool floss in. Not too much or the hat will be over stuffed and look funny.
Break yarn and run daring needle through with tail and tie off.
Flossy's Bonnet Brim:
With size 2 needles and green yarn
Pick up 24 stitches around edge of bonnet top.
Round 2: Knit
Round 3-5: Knit into front and back of each stitch(this will give it that ruffled look)
Cast off, break off yarn and tie off with darning needle.
