WIP Wednesday Yarn Along

I am still working on my shawl...I am passed the point where I had to pull it out, thank goodness.
I really like the yarns colors...I wear allot of blues, browns and olives in the winter. If you look really really close you can see the brown stripe.  So I will be all matchy, matchy this winter.  I'm not crazy about the texture its not as snugly as I would like it to be.  Its acrylic, wool and nylon by Red Heart, Called Boutique Eclipse. Its a medium weight yarn named "Starry Night."

I enjoy reading books that talk about the olden days and how they did things.  So I read allot of Wilder and Alcott.  And I am looking for other authors that offer the same type of read. So if anyone knows of any let me know...please.

I finished my penny rug, it was intended for our camper we named "The Big Bear"  But I decided to keep it in the house for now.
I am working on the pattern to share with everyone and hope to have it available tomorrow.

That penny rug is adorable, and your shawl is gorgeous.

I was a huge fan of LIW when I was a child; I have a brand-new set of her books upstairs for my children, which I bought before they were even born (to replace the timeworn-beyond-reasonable-use set I've had since I was a girl). The First Four Years is probably my least favorite - because she never finished it, the style is *so* different, and so much of it is so *sad* - but I still love it! xo

Oh your rug is finished! I love the bears. It looks great and thanks for keeping us updated. And your shawl is lovely. The colors look wonderful knitted up in that pattern. I do have a soft spot for Wilder and Alcott, too.

Love your blue shawl and I do see the brown! It would match most of my wardrobe too. My yarn is claudia handpainted silk and it is super soft-it came in a 1100 yd hank. Love the runner you made-great colors!

Great projects and I love your choice in books - I haven't read the Little House books in many years :)

The rug is GORGEOUS. I absolutely love it - great job. I'll have to dig around your blog to see if there are previous posts on how you made it!

I adore the little house series and have been picking the books up whenever I find one in a thrift store. The penny rug turned out great, I really, really like it.

The rug is really cool :) And your shawl is looking lovely.
As for the books... I know there are a lot out there but for the life of me I cannot think of anything!

My daughter, who is 9, got a set of the Little House books for Christmas. She is working her way through them, and is on The Long Winter now. Someone told me that each book gets a bit harder as you progress, and reflects Laura's age in the book.

Depending on the time period you are looking for, Lucy Maude Montgomery might be worth checking out. Most of hers are set around 1900 and a few are set on farms as well.

The penny rug is so neat! Glad you put it somewhere you could see all the time! Unless you are in the THE BEAR all the time. Deciding to take my shawl apart and find a different pattern to do. My Yarn Along next week will be a Yarn Over or Yarn Redo!!
I have just finished up the Little House series again. I am starting The Wilder Years and don't know how that is going to go. I second the Janette Oke books. Read them years ago, but they are good stuff, and pretty clean reading. I've found that I've picked up several fiction books about knitting and there are more swearing words and adult content than I really am looking for!
